This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Back in work today so usual flying visit.
DD did not have a very good night due to pain and not being able to sleep with hand in the air. Hopefully pain will ease over next few days and we can find a position for help to sleep in.
Need to get back to some serious MSE as have been spending massive amounts of money this last week. So will make a freezer inventory tonight and do some meal planning. Minced pork for dinner is a good start and have cold omelettes for lunch.
Even though I have only been in work one day this week so far, am exhausted and can't wait for the weekend!
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those who need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Morning all!
Yesterday was A Good Day. The only thing I didn't do was the gym and I would of done that if my phone hadn't mysteriously lost its charge (it's an iPhone and full of music without which I won't do the gym thing) so I stayed home and snuggled with the boys. Oh, and I made an absolutely delicious gnocchi dish so had fun with that. I also found that the garden centre is a whole lot cheaper than B&Q for gardening stuff and has a better selection so will be going there by preference in future.
Today I need to catch up on the washing up (the gnocchi seemed to use a whole lot of dishes!). It's a gardening day and I'll be sowing my next batches of seeds - cauliflower for a spring planting and turnips to eat as babies grated into salad. I'm going to pop a lentil pasta sauce into the slow cooker before I go out. This afternoon it'll be the gym and then a nice, chilled evening.
Hope everyone has a good, OS kind of day!Household: Laura + William-cat
Not Buying It in 20150 -
Hi all,
Off to work again today. I'm still playing catch up from when I had almost 2 weeks off earlier this month, and as its the end of the month I have an awful lot of work that needs to be done by tomorrow... Think ill be staying late tonight!
Tried out A Girl Called Jack's Pasta with cheese n peas for tea last night and it was delicious!
Can't wait for payday tomorrow - we have both really struggled this month money-wise. Need to be a bit more careful now in the run up to Christmas... We already have a couple of presents in, but we are going away 3 times before Christmas so need to be super careful with money!
Hope you all have a good day!the only debt left now is on credit cards! The evil loan has gone!! :j:j0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Light cloud with sun trying to peek out here this morning. Greenhouse watered. Washing on the line.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was a pork roast joint, mashed potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy, dessert was peaches and cream. Tonight's dinner needs to be organised as haven't got a clue what we will be eating.
Work yesterday wasn't as busy but still steady - really glad I'm now on days off until Monday. Did manage to utilise some of the remaining part of the day, delivered the leaflets to the 2 places they needed to go, took DS2 to docs - he has got an ear infection so has meds, booked the rally racing day and made a telephone call that I needed to. Also bought and then changed the ink cartridge in the printer and did a few jobs on the pc. Today I must get on to the service people for the DW about the repair as they have not come back to me as promised. Boys have dentist first thing.
Don't feel in a great place this morning, have several things on my mind and didn't sleep at all well, have still got shed loads of stuff to do and the house is still a pit, hope that by tonight I feel in a better place - as I know from past experience once I get on a downward spiral it's difficult to pull back out of it and I really don't want to be back on meds - I've been off them over 12 months.
Keep safe and well x

Still reading and wishing you all well. Psyching myself up for my trip to hospital on Sunday. I will have my laptop as I need you all for company xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Good morning everyone :j
Woke up this morning after a very strange dream in which I had reverted back to my teenage years and was basically really horrible and secretive. I think I may ring my mother later to apologise for what I put her through while I was growing up.We don't have the best relationship now but it's a lot better than in the 80's.:D
I am trying to get the energy together to organize a trip to the swimming pool. I can't swim myself so I shall be spectating while the girls throw themselves around in the pool. It looks like it might rain later on so it will be a good activity for them.
DD10 woke up with a kitten sitting on her face this morning. They are not supposed to go upstairs but they sneak into the girls bedrooms nearly every day. She said it wasn't the best way to be woken up! :rotfl:
I've just taken some turkey fillets out of the freezer to defrost for tea. I'm going to make another recipe from the Hairy Dieters book which is supposed to be made with chicken but I don't think it will matter. It only serves four but they are such large portions I can usually serve 6 people. I may have to pop into town for some noodles though as we are all a bit tired of rice. The lasagne yesterday was a great success and I still have 2 portions left over for the freezer. The plan is that once the children are back in school, I will have stocked up on a lot of leftover food for my lunches. I'm trying to eat less bread just to see if my IBS improves because at the moment it is becoming a bit of an issue.
Well, hope everyone manages to have a nice day, gentle hugs all around. Take care.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning all,
Hugs nmlc hope you feel better later
Dumpling I have a major issue with white bread. I sometime succumb as I did last night, cue me being violently sick before bed. I'm really going to try and think about the food I eat from now on. Dieting doesn't work for me but I'm going to try and put only healthy foods into my body. I gave up sugar in my tea last year but replaced them with sweeteners and to be honest I don't think they agree with me either, ooh and lots of broccoli as its supposed to help with athritis.
I've got pork fillet out for tea tonight, I will slice it and pan fry. My youngest has requested sweet potato chips and we shall have that with salad.
Just a reminder there is a five pound voucher in the Mirror for Aldi today.
I've also promised Dh a fruit loaf although I shan't be eating it myself.
Have a good day all J xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all,
Bright beautiful morning here, got the wm on the go and will hang it out after.
DD is off to the Isle of Man today with her dad for a long weekend, he has family over there, and has been saying he would take her since she was a baby, she is 18 now ! so better late than never, I would love to be going its meant to be really beautiful.
I need to nip out and collect the dogs insulin and some paint. Yesterday I stripped back the window sill and radiator and got a coat back on the rad, it will need another but it looks so much better.
Dinner tonight is something and chips, maybe some chicken will go and look at my list.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning all,
Grey and cool here today with damp ground - glad I did some washing yesterday.
DH's birthday today so he's taken cake into work and later we'll be having coffee and cake with some of the family. The nest is empty and the kids can't get home so we are going to the cinema for a change - we haven't been for about two years - and to Frankie & Bennies as it is close. He was quiet this morning, it's the first birthday without his mother and it's poignant, no matter how old you are.
Off to do some cleaning as it's raining now.
Have the best day you can xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
RedRuby - IoM is beautiful, it is like England used to be in the 1950's, very quaint and gorgeous scenery. I feel quite envious although isn't it Grand Prix week this week? That will mean lots of motorbikes around...
Am enjoying being off work this week - one of my brothers got married yesterday so that was an enjoyable (if slightly tipsy!) day, I've got a diamond wedding cake to marzipan & ice for my in-laws, and I need to go & say hello to my allotment too.0
