Eon cheque from Jan 2013

Is the '6 months' rule on cheques still true?

I have a cheque from Eon, dated 30 Jan 2013 - can I still bank it?

You could try, I'm not sure how vigilant bank staff are. Otherwise it's a case of asking Eon to reissue it.

    I would bank it myself.
    It will probably go through.

Was thinking that, but if I do and it bounces, don't I get charged?
In fact e.on's Twitter team have been extremely helpful and are raising a replacement cheque.

Why would you be charged for presenting a cheque that bounced?

Good to hear EON will provide a replacement cheque. You will pay it in soon, won't you :p
