De-Humidifier Recomendations Please

We have used an EcoAir dessicant dehumidifier and was very pleased with it. Cheap to run, effective but poorly made and dreadful customer service. There seems to be a problem with the machines in that the heating element goes after a few months of use, usually outside the warranty period. Ours certainly did.
We have had Ebac machines recommended to us, but they use compressors and we understand them to be a bit noisy?
Have any of you guys had a dehumidifier for a while, and can recommend it on build quality, effectiveness, quite running? We don't want to buy another to see that fail as well but will definitely need one for the winter.

We have had an Ebac for about five years . Very good machine cost about £170 as I recall. Position it on upstairs landing and it eliminates nearly all of the condensation that we used to get overnight on the windows. Noise level about the same as a fridge.Forgotten but not gone.0

Ebac CS is superb !
The higher end products have a 5 year guarantee .Any problems with any product still in warranty Ebac collect , repair and deliver at no cost in 7 days.
A refreshingly good service for a UK company .0 -
I have an EBac Powerdri. Great machine, only thing I don't like about it is the colour. To be fair though it was never designed as the kind of thing you'd sit in your living room as a designer piece.
Works well, two speeds so obviously slower speed is quieter.
Can get it cheaper than listed here.

We have a compressor type dehumidifier that is very good but can be noisy especially at night.
As it lives upstairs, we have it on via a plug in timer so that it will not come on during the night and frighten the life out of you.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0 -
Thanks for replies, will look into Ebac more. I see they are cheaper elsewhere BUT they are offering extending guarantees direct.0
