I can't think of any wedding including my own which weren't in the afternoon. Mine was 3:30 and the range is usually from 2pm onwards.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Yeah I thought most weddings are in the aftenoon.
2pm Ceremony
2.30pm Drinks Reception
3pm Canapes
5pm Wedding Breakfast (Why do they call it that???)
7pm Evening guests
8.30m Cake cutting and circulating
10.30pm Buffet
I kinda think there is too much food going on but dont have a choice with our venue.Married 30/08/14 :heartpuls0 -
I'm also going for around 3pm with a cold buffet in the evening and maybe some snacks later if our budget allows it. I'm hoping that as well as saving money, it means the majority of our guests only need to book one night's accommodation as the majority of them can drive up on the day. I'm also hoping it gives them time to have breakfast so they're not starving until the buffet's served!0

I think its because its the first meal you have as a married couple0 -
Mine was at 3pm, well 3:30pm as the registrar was late.
It was a small wedding so we had a hot buffet meal, followed my wedding cupcakes and ice cream pots for afters.
I've been to one ceremony that was at 12pm and I felt rushed getting ready as a guest so goodness knows how the bride felt.Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Thanks for all your replies, by afternoon wedding I meant 4pm ish, and to cut out the wedding breakfast. I just don't want to feel mean as some people will have travelled a long way, does everyone expect a sit down meal?0

That's just what I was thinking, we can shave a good 2k off our budget this way! Though don't want to appear tight, or to leave people hungry! Needs must as we are funding it all ourselves, with not much money to spend0
