Help! Newby wanting financial advice

Hello Everyone, i am hoping there is someone, anyone in the know on here that may be able to help me.:(
my son is 19. he was hopingto go to uni but his grades were not up to scratch so he has enrolled again in college to re take his a levels , it is a 2 year course. i am in receipt of EASA and i receive child benefit and tax credits for him, these will continue till he is 20 and then the child benefit and tax credits will stop. when he gothis grades this august, we found out that he had too higher grades to get full funding for college and not enough to go to uni. Because of his age (19 and over), he does not qualify for full funding so by scraping the absolute bottom of the barrel we have managed to find the £375 fee and the rest of the £1500 is being paid by 5 monthly instalments. My question is this. When he turns 20 in may next year, is there any benefit he can claim or i can claim for him as he will still be a full time student? if not i do not know how i will be able to fund another £1500 for the 2nd yr of his college....
Can anyone help or advise me? if i cannot pay for the funding for next yr he wont be able to continue with the a level course and therefore not get to uni.
Any information or help would be greatly appreciated

Sorry this is a long message:eek:

    There is nothing

    However, why A levels?

I get he can't be funded because he has that level but have you considered moving up a level eg foundation degree, are there no stepping courses?

That's normally excellent advice, however, her son needs to ensure the reasons he didn't get the grades first time are removed.

    Op

Two things. What grades did he get? Ie does he have a FULL level 3 if not then there may be other options

Final thing, ask for a mentor - they may be able to skill up to a 1 year resit (assuming same subjects)
