Damaged chip and pin card.. any way to try and bring it back to life?

Options
For some reason my Bank of Scotland chip and pin debit card has decided to go on the blink. It looks absolutely fine but when I put it in the ATM the machine just clicks repeatedly.

Bizarrely when I enter my PIN it will then let me see my balance and available funds etc but when i try to withdraw anything it just spits the card back at me even though there are plenty of available funds.

Seems like the magnetic strip is fine but theres some issue with the chip itself.

I'm not going to be home for the next three weeks so having to order up a new card is a pain, as I wont physically be able to get it.

Are there any ways of potentially reviving a chip ? or are there any ATM machines that will work just with the signature strip and PIN?

No, if the ATM detects a chip.n.pin card then it requires the chip to work, the same applies for most other automated methods of cash withdrawal
    .

The magstripe is more resilient and Im not aware of ways to revive a malfunctioning chip part (the old freeze tricks are unproven imo).

You should still be able to withdraw money from a POS where they can swipe the magstripe or going into a local branch of your bank and geting cash over the counter.

Some banks will allow you to collect a new card in branch, but I don't know if BoS is one that does, and if the facilty extends to other banks in the group if there isn't a BoS branch near where you are currently.

There are a few unconfirmed/risky methods:

    Freezing the card.
    Tape over the chip.
