Id give it a bit longer for the owner to contact the shop about it. As well as putting an ad in the local evening newspaper id se about putting an ad somewhere else as they may not read the paper.

It's out of my hands now. Apparently the shop has a policy of sending all lost items over to the police station every 3 days or so. The police confirm this but reckon it's usually a once a week thing. The police then keep them for 28 days and after that they dispose of them as they see fit. Some things go to the charity shops others (mobile phones specifically) go to the police headquarters, I know not why.... Some things are offered to the finder to see if they wish to keep them.

I don't really know of anywhere else that I can advertise this find. It's in the local evening paper which has a massive reach and I have also announced it on Facebook. I am still waiting to be accepted by a Facebook 'lost & found' group for the area. Ultimately I can only do so much and I'm doing my best. I would truly rather the owner were found. I have two cameras myself already one better than this one I found and the other on equal footing so I don't need another camera.

Nah, just keep an eye out for one lying around on the floor...
    :)

Now that would do me no good at all :) did you hear about the couple who did exactly that and found a winning ticket? Didn't do them much good...

Why, what happened? Were they not allowed to claim the prize because they didn't buy the ticket?

Claimed the prize, then charged with false representation and theft.

You should have looked at the pics on the camera, we found a digital camera out walking in the yorkshire dales, taking a look at the photos the first one was a photo of a card with the owners name, address and phone number in case of it being lost, so we were then able to phone the owner, they were overjoyed we had it, posted it to him and he sent us £20 for our trouble and honesty.

I've done this with my two cameras. It is a very good idea but I just took it straight to the customer services in case the owners were still in the store.

If it ends up back with me I shall not leave it there. I'll put any photo's that are on the camera up on a local 'lost and found' Facebook page. Somebody might just then recognise them and hopefully find the owners too :) It is already listed on that lost and found site anyway.
