Interesting, thanks for posting. I have a question re the thing about comps now being able to bypass having to let winners know directly:

I'm wondering is a winner is announced on a FB page, if that person searched for their name on Google, would it be likely to show in the search results? What do peeps think?

When you talk down to others it says more about you than them.
  • In my experience doing a google search (preferably advanced search by last update previous month say?) does turn up the winning announcements but not straight away.
    Search
congratulations or congrats or winner or won "your name"

I would also check on Winners circle as well.

And the facebook winners thread on MSE

I expect that the companies that take a responsible approach to contacting winners will continue to do so as before

the problem with searching your name is that if you have a common name you have no way of knowing if it is you or not, my name is not hat common but because Facebook is world wide there are quite a few of us
