Kitchen Doors repainted

I'm looking at jazzing up my kitchen. Initially I was going to replace the doors and door fronts with high gloss ones. I'm having issues finding a company that matches all the sizes so a colleague suggested I paint them. I'm guessing this is a different job than applying gloss to doors and skirts.
My questions are:
Has anyone successfully painted their doors themselves.
Has anyone used a company to repaint them (google doesnt really offer assistance)?

It's the same but you need to do your preparation thoroughly.

Also, you can buy spray gloss paints [rust-o-leum or similar] which is a bit easier than painting with a brush or a roller

One tip if you do use a brush or roller for painting them, take them off [if you werent' already going to] and lay them on trestles or something to keep them flat. It helps with the final finish.

preparation is the key to success, you need to give the doors a sand down 120 grade paper should be fine and then you need to wash them down i would use HG paint cleaner and use a green nylon scourer to make sure they are really clean
then prime with zinsser 123 primer and then you can either give them an undercoat or 2 coats of satinwood if you don't want an shiny finish
