Can I reclaim Account Fees?

A few years ago I opened an account with HSBC in the UK because I was moving overseas and the country I now live in primarily use HSBC, so it made sense for foreign currency transfers to have both of my accounts with HSBC. I was told that I needed the HSBC Advance account and would have to pay a monthly fee of GBP 12.95 per month, but I would not be entitled to any of the benefits of that service e.g. travel insurance, phone insurance etc. This was because I was an overseas resident. Does anyone know if I can potentially reclaim these? If I am not entitled to the benefits then why should I be paying it?
Thanks very much!

Why would you be able to reclaim the fees? You wanted a linked current account to enable easier foreign currency transfers and to avoid paying individually for such transactions . Presumably you agreed to the account on those terms?0

It is unlikely that travel insurance was of any use to an expat (they are not "travelling" and I suspect the phone insurance would not apply either).
I would suggest a complaint.0 -

I read it that the OP was advised they would not be eligible to use the noted products, but this was still the best product for him. I cannot see why there would be a valid complaint if he had these facts at the time?0
