RAC Ripoff

Hi, I am new to this site so bear with me.
I want to know, what if anything I can do about the way I fell the RAC are treating my case.
I was on the Motorway and the Wheel bearing went on my car.I called the RAC and told them what the problem was, the guy turned up with the part and fitted it.I did choke a bit when he showed me the receipt from Euro car parts, but what could I do.The part was about £75 with vat etc. When I got home i checked the price on the suppliers website, and they only charge £19.80, so whats goin on.I complained immediately to the RAC and got a case number. They then took a Month to eventually respond advising me I should have asked for alternatives if I didnt want to pay that price, I was unable to check at the time so what choice did I have.I think the RAC must be making a fortune with that sort of mark up if they do it to everyone.I have sent a reply advising them I want to take it further, but want also to make others aware.

Not meaning to be rude...but what kind of car do you have for a wheel bearing to be £19.80 ???....wheel bearings usually cost a lot more than that to be honest...I use euro car parts frequently.

As you agreed at the side of the road to pay this amount there is very little you can now do.

So you called in and explained the issue, the RAC man took you at your word, bought the correct part at Eurocar Parts, which is generally quite competitive, even showed you the invoice and now you aren't happy.

If he had bought a linglong part for £5 you no doubt wouldn't have been happy with it either.

I for one would have been very impressed to get it fixed at the roadside instead of being towed to a garage that had closed for the night.

So you're saying the price of the same item on Eurocarparts with delivery to the side of the motorway was £19.80? ;)

The bearing may be £19 quid, but it is usually pressed in a hub, has begun to spin and dug a nice hole in the hub.
He probably just fit a new hub.
    Be happy...;)

Front or rear? The price gap can be large

Is the £19.80 the same identical part or a cheaper alternative?

They could have towed you to a garage who may have charged you more to supply and fit a bearing.

What car/model/year is it? and what item number did they fit?
