PPI calculations on paid off loans etc

Ok, I am trying to find out roughly what I could be owed on loans since 2000 and how PPI works when you pay off a loan......
My wife had a loan for £4000 and was sold PPI, even though she was a student......we consolidated our debts in 2005 with a loan of £7500 and then again took out a large loan in 2007 of £12,500.......this loan was paid off in full in 2009........all of them had PPI.......
Question is, when you consolidate/pay off a loan, are you paying off the PPI or is the remaining PPI written off as it is included in the monthly payments.......
Other question would be what could I be entitled to (Loans with HSBC)
The bank are currently investigating our claim but sort of expecting them to try and short change us as they have messed us about since day 1.........

If they find in your favour, the Bank will refund all PPI paid, plus attendant interest, plus 8% simple additional interest. Single premium PPI on a consolidated chain of loans is a strong case for mis-selling, but don't be counting any chickens just yet.BronzeMarkymark wrote: »The bank are currently investigating our claim but sort of expecting them to try and short change us0
