wheelie bin collections

its monday morning and as usual all the wheelie bins are standing along the side if the street, bin men come and go and as usual they leave there trail of soil nappys, empty tin can and potato peels ect,

phone the local council, like i do most monday afternoons and they say within 24 hours they will have a road sweeper come out and tidy up or they say i could go out with a brush and a black bag and pick up the raw sewage ect

(IS THIS WHAT I PAY MY COUNCIL TAX FOR)

when the road sweeper does come out we have a chat as i know him by now and he tells me that the staff who answer the phones where i complain know people like myself as nuisance callers

does anybody out there have the same problem after the bin men have been

i know wheelie bins are more tidier than black bags,

but what i am saying is that when the bins are full and the binmen takes the wheelie bins upto the wagon, life them up on there wagon and when they come back down, the rubbish drops off the back of the wagon, then the binmen does not pick it up after them and then the sewage or nappy are left on the street

No, our bin collectors don't leave a trail of rubbish on the streets. Maybe they over fill the vehicle, why not contact your local MP/Councillor.

yeah at time people do over fill them, but i dont live on a normal terraced house ,where each person parks there bin outside there gate, i live in an area where a bin wagon cannot access every back gate,so most people bring there wheelie bins around the corner to an area where there might be 30 wheeelie bins and as i said some will not have the lids level on there bins but they all have black bags in there bins, so some are piled on the top ,then the bin men sometimes takes them off and leaves them piled in a heap at the side of the street, then emptys the bins and leaves them,

they say that a separate van will come around and pick up the extra bags as they dont get paid for picking up the extra,

and to be honest,i understand that

but sometimes the black bags are lying there for another week and then the dogs that people let out to roam around get into them and the mess is disgusting

Last week they didn't pickup our recycle bin, I presume because it was heavy (lots of books in it, which as are paper and cardboard should be recycleable).

So now I'm moving half of it into the normal rubbish bin so it weighs less.

    So much for recycling!

Much of this so called re-cycling is a joke, done purely to meet Government issued 'targets'. Most of the figures are 'fiddled' to meet thest targets.

I read the other day, a claim that re-cycling has taken the equivalent of 3.5 million cars off the road. Good job too, because most of the one that are left are driving MILLIONS of miles to the recycling centres taking the rubbish that you are not allowed to put in your wheelie bin anymore !

our bin men are fab, we live in a very rural area so I don't know if that makes a difference but we have never had any problems

as for the recycling, we have the general wasted picked up every other week and the recyclable stuff on the alternative week, it works really well and we have more stuff in our recycle bin that we do in the general waste bin after two weeks, our bin men actually check the recycling bin and if there are any items that should not be in there they won't collect it and leave us a form stating what was wrong, which is a pain but it's our fault for putting the wrong stuff in there in the first place

We seem to be quite Lucky on the score, only very occasionally does anything like this happen and when it does there 2 naggy women over the back that clean it up, well gives them something to really complain about.

We too are very lucky where we are - our bin men are very good and I gladly give them a Christmas Box. On occasion I have had too much for the bin and if I leave black bag beside it with a wee thank you post-it they always lift it! I would rather leave it beside the bin rather than try and stuff it in. One useful tip - I have got DH to get into bin occasionally and stamp down rubbish - it is amazing how much more room you get. This is exceptional as now just two of us in house (with visiting Grandsons! Nappies always in nappy sacks I might add!)
