When is cheapest time to book summer 2014 holiday?

I think for your party size, booking as early as possible is best. Generally prices don't really come down that much during the school holidays these days and you'll be incredibly lucky to get any free child places in good accommodation once we're into the new year. Booking last minute is great for the 2 adult or 2 adult 1 older child party [that child will be classed as an adult anyway] and those who can travel out of school holidays, but that's about all. Also if you're booking a package, the chances are you can pay a low deposit and then will have longer to save up the balance the earlier you book.

The 12, 14 and 15 year olds will probably be classed as adults in all inclusive certainly the older 2 so in effect you have 5 adults and 1 child or 4 adults and 2 kids. if it works out as 4 adults and 2 kids you could get 2 rooms with 2 free child places which will be best. Also look at self catering properties that offer an all inclusive upgrade as that would probably revert to 2 adults 4 kids and be cheaper0

It all depends on where you are flying from and who you want to fly with really.
At the moment the 'budget' airlines like ryanair and easyjet do not have flights on sale for next summer. They will be released in the next month or so.
Not all of the holidays are released as of yet for next summer either as Tour Operators, travel agents etc are still signing off contracts and loading the rooms on to their systems.
I would suggest giving it another month or two and then you should have a wider choice of flights and accommodation to choose from. I wouldn't suggest leaving it much later than Christmas though as traditionally the biggest peak for summer holiday bookings is January and after that you will struggle to find a room big enough to fit you in.I am a Travel Agent

Well we're in Leicester so guess the closest airports are east midlands and Birmingham, we aren't fussed who we fly with or even where we go to be honest we are ideally trying to find the best place price wise that doesnt have terrible reviews, preferably 2 weeks AI and no more than £6000 in either 1 room or split between 2 rooms.
We want somewhere that is good for the kids (they love swimming, beach and theme parks) and will prob venture off site a few times a week for days out. I think I will give it until November and book then, that way I should have the widest choice and be able to get a room big enough, by then i'll have about 2k to put down as a deposit too. Cant wait
