OK, I've decided I want to splash out on a Toyota Aygo, I bought my last car brand new 24 years ago, so, not too much experience on car buying!
I want to pay cash - no finance, no trade in.
Any advice?

This is a budget priced model anyway - although you can still spend more than the entry level model implies, if you don't want basic spec!
This means small profit for dealer - small discount for customer!
Go to https://www.honestjohn.couk - clik This Weeks Best Deals, see which sites are offering Toyota (& Peugeout & Citreon) offers & try them!
Yhere are plenty of good deals on other city cars, so maybe consider other makes, too!

Buy it as a Citroen C1 - same car but cheaper as Citroen dealers will always do better deals. Try it and see!0

Don't buy a new car, buy a preregistered one which will have 0 miles on the clock, smell like new & cost substantially less than a new one.
Also check the Peugeot 107 - it's the same car0 -
Good points here, also have a read over the article: New Car Buying and Financing Cost Cutting Plan for ideas on getting prices down
Remember though that these days dealers can be more interested in mouth-watering finance deals over a cash payment, but still give it a go, good luck

Toyota are actually surprised that so many UK buyers have gone for the higher priced and specced Aygo than the 107 or C1.
I think it's because the 107 and C1 are ugly and Aygo drivers want whatever style they can get for their money. Plus I'd bank on better service from Toyota. The man without a signature.0 -

Wow! loads of advice, honestjohn came up with a peugeot 107 for £5,500, which is loads cheaper than I've been quoted. I found the site a bit confusing though, so any tips on that front welcome.
I'll check out the other sites. My brother keeps saying 'don't buy french!', buy japanese, but the aygo is alot more expensive.
What is the difference between the 3 cars? Are they all the same shape etc. they must be different engines?
I think this is the only car that is group 1 insurance, and £35 a year tax. apart from the smart car, but that's mega bucks.
Keep the advice coming!0 -

The only difference in the 3 models is cosmetic, they are mechanically identical and are all built in the same factory.0 -

!
In all other cases I would agree with your Brother, this is the exception to the rule, same car less money, buy the cheapest option available.;)0 -
Another reason could be that the Aygo was heavily featured on Top Gear in two five-a-side car football matches, so it has some street cred.0
