Relocation of BT landline into house? / utilitywarehouse.co.uk?

I need to relocate our standard BT landline into our house, so have been told to call BT, to put a new phone socket in the room that the line comes in from the telegraph pole to an upstairs bedroom..

Anyone any experience of this as I've been told it could be cheaper to put a 2nd line in, instead of just moving what we have?

Secondly as an alternative I have been told by a friend to use https://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/comms/index

As a cheaper alternative to this?

Does anyone have any experience of using a company like this for BT or other services?

It's no cheaper to use utility warehouse to move or provide a new line , companies like plus net or sky if you are a customer are cheaper

I assume you mean moving the main bt socket elsewhere ?

Thanks, yes. Our main socket and master is downstairs away from the bedroom where the actual line comes in from the street! (which is right by the bedroom we want?!)

I was just seeing how plausible this would be, and if anything a little stronger coming into the house direct as we only use for BB now

Everything up to and including the NTE5 master belongs to BT OR, so you can only do this via your line rental provider, who will arrange it with them. BT will charge a minimum of £130 for the call out and first hour.

You would be cheaper getting a second line then cancelling the first

I have contacted BT, and put through to an Indian Call centre and they have said a BT Engineer isnt needed and just got to your 'electric shop local' ?? lol

    Useless

I then got them to give me BT UK number which is PSTN? (Phone repairs?)

Is it true that any engineer could move and relocate the main line into a house from outside?

No. The rules have never changed - you can do what you like AFTER the Master socked, not before.
