Is this a legal credit agreement?

Just use a program like paint to edit the picture of your card and black out the CVV number and send it to them.0

Did all that, but the quality of my signature was too good. Could easily be lifted!
But without any declared data protection statements from the company and am handing over nothing!0 -
I wouldn't want to hand over the information they are asking for. Or agree to borrow from them without details that they do not appear to be prepared to hand over.
Presumably if you paid by credit card onsite then they would be happy with that, and wouldn't want a photocopy of the card?
With that in mind have you considered seeing if you can obtain a new credit card with 0% on purchases for 12 months and using that to pay for the item (or using it for the remaining 50% and leaving the deposit on your existing card).
That would leave you in a similar position financially and ensure you had the section 75 protection from paying with a credit card.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

"To contact myself"?
It should be "to contact me".
Maybe best to have a friend check your letters before they go out.0 -
Sorry to say but this company sounds like a bit of a Mickey Mouse operation. There are tried and trusted ways of checking credit worthiness and verifying the credit card isn't being used fraudulently. I can't say that I would be letting them anywhere near me with a bottle of anesthetic and a scalpel.
I don't mean to sound unpleasant but everything you have said about them sets alarm bells ringing, they may be far better qualified at surgery but finance does not seem to be there thing.
EDIT: Just had a quick look at their website and they do have a Privacy statement but that seems to only relate to data collected through the internet."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -
The whole set up looks dodgy, Run away.0

I'd second Clive's advice - I'd look for options elsewhere.
You'd expect a company like this to be all over the legals and financials but it doesn't appear to be that way.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -

I agree. OP, did someone you trust recommend your surgeon, have you spoken to them directly, in depth, about what they suggest?
Do you know their infection rates, satisfaction rates, etc?
It really does sound like you are dabbling in the wrong end of the market.0 -
All,
Thanks for your advice. It's all been very useful.
My wife was very impressed with the surgeon when she met her. At that was a big bonus too - a female surgeon.
And to be honest I have created this situation, but her surgery is more important so here's what I plan to do...
Make the 80 mile round trip to pay in person the whole amount upfront and by card. That way I have some legal cover - I don't even care about the 1.7% credit card charge!
Physically show them my card and sign/pin there an then. No need for them to take any of this personal information.
I have since found out that their finance company is 121 Finance Ltd. companycheck .co.uk seems to report them as being OK, but I'm done with this messing around.
Peace of mind for my wife is more important, so payment upfront is what it's gonna be.
Thanks again all,

@John1993
Actually the organisation was very good in that respect. My wife has met the surgeon, she was very thorough and discussed everything.
prior to meeting her, they company gave us a lot of information about the procedure and the surgeon and even prompted us to research her directly - no smoke and mirrors there.
I think she's even been on TV - and for the right reasons too...
But as somethingcorporate said, if they are used to "dreamers" and people aspiring to make themselves a career from their impending surgery they may be a bit OTT with their background checks.
I have also recommended to them that they may want to update their privacy and data protection policies in the near future ;-)
Cheers,
Roy0
