This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Total stress head this morning as worried sick about DD and hospital today. Am just about to get in the shower then will wake her to get ready. The less time she has to think about it, the better.
Julie - hope you didn't think I was being flippant about ovarian cysts yesterday. The danger with pregnancy was twisting/possible rupturing. DD ended up having one removed when GDD was just a few days old. Just read back my post and it sounded like I was being a smart !!!!!
Better get going with shower, so will leave with usual well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

I painted that ceiling yesterday, it was on bare plaster so I did one coat of watered down paint, then three coats of paint. Looked good, until the sun came round and shone through the window. I've got more carrots and tomatoes to chop and freeze :T Been a bit worried about the potatoes because the plants didn't flower, but I had a rummage and there's a few big ones near the top. I'll tip them out tomorrow (they're in old dustbins) with my fingers crossed
I suppose I'd better go and get the white paint back out of the shed. While still grumbling and moaning............lolBulletproof0 -
Morning all!
Yesterday didn't quite go according to plan. I visited M&D's to water my seeds (no sign of growth or The Huge Slug) and that's about it. I'm telling myself I must have needed the rest but actually I think I was just being lazy. The good news is that it was a NSD.
Today? I've a new recipe to try which says it's 'worth the effort'. I shall have to buy some cream for it and also need some bits from the garden centre so will pop in to Mr S while I'm going in that direction. I'd like to get to Mass and the gym but making sure I've something for my tea takes priority!
Hope everyone has a good, OS day.Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning All
TTFTM - Good luck to DD for today, let us know how she gets on.
Happy painting tru!
Woke up early so decided to get up and get things done, I have been doing this for the past week and what a difference - the ironing is up to date and all the paperwork is filed away!
Been really busy at school work as it has been the start of a new year but it should settle down in a week or so, actually got to work with some children yesterday instead of just doing resources!
I entered the dreaded shed again the other day to try to clear it out a bit more and have managed to sell a few bits, an old steam vehicle and a bike. I use Gumtr££ as it's free and there are no postage costs (although quite a few folk want you to post really heavy items and they will re-imburse you so they say!).
Got school work and evening job today so need to be organised, will have pasta for tea I think, something quick and easy, DD has a day off so she can sort that out.
Hope you all have a good Wednesday, take care. XX0 -

So glad you mis-coated the ceiling :T thats been the problem in this house nothing was mis-coated and each room has had to be stripped back to bare plaster and started again, thick paint will not stick to plaster, give it time and the while lot will come down.
TTFTM hope all goes well for your dd today.
Got to drop dd at work this morning then onto an appointment, I then have to take some lights back which I ordered from John Lewis and are the wrong colour and nip into town to look for some more. And order more insulin for little dog. So busy morning.
This afternoon I wouls like to strip the paint on the window sill in the bedroom and get rid of the old filler from around the windows, ready to re do.
WM is doing its thing, and will be hung out later on.
Picked corgettes and rhubarb yesterday, is it Meanmarie who wont pick rhubarb after July ? I was just wondering why ? I made a lovely crumble with it, and steamed and have frozen the corgettes.
Ok have good days all xx0 -
Good morning everyone :j
Sending 'good luck' vibes to TTFTM's DD and 'keep calm' vibes to TTFTM!
We have a red sky here this morning but hubby has gone off to work in his shorts anyway. He checks the Met Office forecast every morning before he gets dressed appropriately but I think he may have got it wrong this morning.:D It has been so nice to have him home for the past few days. I really miss him but at least I have the girls to keep me occupied.
Saying that, we are all looking forward to the 9th September when they start back to school. I need to get back into my routines and so do they. We are going to Plymouth aquarium next week as our final trip out of the holidays so hopefully that will go smoothly. I'm amazed at myself for getting out so much with the kids. I rarely leave the house when they are not here but hopefully this summer has given me some confidence to get out a bit more.
I sorted out a mealplan for the next couple of weeks. I've just bought the new Hairy Dieters cookbook so I'm looking forward to trying out some new recipes. Tonight though it's just going to be lasagne and chips with salad. I'll make it in a minute and then I just have to stick it in the oven later. I LOVE my new cooker, it's so efficient and it is so nice being able to use the whole oven instead of just the top shelf.
I'm going to nip over to the Flylady thread to see what room it is today. I do lurk there:o as I don't always feel up to cleaning but I find it's very helpful to have a rough idea of what can be done.
Anyway, that's it for now. Hope you all manage to have a great day whatever you are doing, and as always, gentle hugs for all who would like one.
Cheers m'dears x0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Really misty here this morning but forecast is for sun later. Greenhouse watered. Washing on the line.
DH up and off to work stupid early.
Dinner last night was bacon and cheese kievs, chips, beans/veg for the menfolk and mushroom omlette and salad for me, shortbread for dessert. Tonight I'm not quite sure but I do have potatoes and veg, just need something to go with them, wil sort it later.
DS2 was saying his ears were really hurting yesterday so managed to ring the docs and get an appointment with the Nurse Practitioner for this afternoon - I think he may have an ear infection. Yesterday I was trying to look in his ears and he couldn't even let me touch the outside of his ears with saying it was hurting him! But he does seem to have had a better night and was asleep by 9pm last night.
Work yesterday as expected was manic, just so continously busy and we'd got a good compliment of staff too for a change - but it was a bit of a slog all day. Today will probably be more of the same but I'm only working until lunchtime - then on days off until Monday but have loads to do.
I need to organise the boys racing day (xmas prezzie), chase the repair company about the DW repair that didn't mend the part that was broken and they were supposed to ring and leave a message whilst we were away and haven't, take a couple of boxes of caravan leaflets to a couple of local shops, and tackle the remaining holiday washing, drying, ironing and clearing up! The camping fridge, some equipment etc did get put back up in the loft last night whilst I was cooking the dinner so it's a start!
Keep safe and well x

Morning all,
ttftm not at all, you made me laugh, my baby days are long gone, I'm enjoying my grandchildren now:D our little Australian baby girl is due in 5 wks :j good luck today hun, she will be fine, sending lots of positive vibes.
It's wet here this morning, luckily I did all the washing yesterday.
Had a lovely dinner with my two younger sons and gf last night, fresh tomato pasta with garlic crisps and salad and then lovely cheese and crackers for pud. Not great for my weight loss campaign but I enjoyed it. My sons first day back at work went well thank goodness. He is much much brighter, long may it continue.
I'm off for an interview today. I've volunteered with a self help group that help people with depression. I think it's important to get out and do something. I know first hand how debilitating it can be. Probably only do one day a week but have wanted to volunteer for ages so hopefully they will want me:D
Tea tonight will be something quick and easy like eggs and bacon. Have a good day whatever your up to xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.

Morning all,
Nice and clear here so the WM is on with the jeans etc. DH is at the dentist right now - I hope the new man will finally sort out his snaggle tooth. Our former dentist had to stop working after surgery on his hands, so we've been in limbo.
I finally cleared the ironing mountain yesterday :T so it should be easy to maintain now (I hope).
Next on the list is sorting out the kitchen - I need to make inventories in the freezer, cupboard and locate the boxes of tins & cleaning products in the garage. While I was relying on online shops I over-bought to qualify for discount coupons etc and now need to use it all up efficiently.
Have the best day you can xI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
