Advice on electrical quote
Options
Hi there,
I've just recently had to fork out for a new boiler installation, when an electrician was needed to tidy up some bodged electrics from the old boiler system. They found that the consumer unit was not done to standard and a number of areas in the house required fixing before I can get a certificate to say things are to standard.
I've been given a quote (a second price including replacing a broken shower unit), but i'm not sure if it is a good price or not (due to my lack of knowledge on electrical work). I've done a bit of researching, and they seem to add up based on other costings on the web - the main earthing/bonding and consumer unit work seems to be the part which is costly.
Would anyone be able to advise me if these quotes as a result seem reasonable? (see below)
Any advice would be great and really appreciated,
Frank
Work required to bring the installation to current standards.
Carry out full test and inspect to check all wiring is ok.
- upgrade main earthing
- upgrade main bonding
- upgrade meter tails
- fault find 32a socket circuit
- change consumer unit
- replace shower isolator
- sort shower cable.
- cross bond boiler
- clip cables feeding sockets in out house.
- replace dimmer switch
- change boiler spur
Total estimate for work above.
£740.00
Once work above is completed and tested i will give you a certificate and part p the installation. this notifies the council that the property is brought to standards.
- supply and fit new triton 9.5kw shower. £330.00
recommended
- install in line water purifier to stop limescale build up in element. £45.00
total for all work.
£1115.00
