I found this website earlier today with lots of good ideas for using the slow cooker
But does anyone have any idea what size of ziplock bag I should buy?

To be honest, I wouldn't use these at all. They will be expensive to buy. Hard to clean I would imagine and I can't see them stacking very well.
I use normal food bags. These are cheaper and bend better than ziplock. Or food boxes, (same size as marg tubs) These can be washed and used over and over and can be stacked.

I recently bought some REAL Ziplock bags and I have to say I am really pleased with the quality!
I must have tried every cheap brand/own brand over the years but the real ones ARE great.
They certainly arent cheap, but they are my new kitchen treat!
And liquids freeze and stack beautifully and take up much less space than rigid containers.
I bought 2 sizes ***nips off to kitchen to check***
I bought quart and gallon and so far, the quart has been big enough for everything, so unless you are freezing huge quantities, I would start with them.
Fine for 500g/ 1 poundish of meat with lots of room to spare.
(I buy mince in bulk and freeze in portions).
Btw my next door neighbour washes hers and hangs them on the line to dry0 -
Mr Maitane takes them to work and puts them through the dishwasher there :rotfl:
On a serious note, they seem to need the heat to get them clean again that I just can't manage with handwashing."We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.

Ikea's zip bags are great, cheap and available in at least 2 different sized packs of twin packs of bags, (4 sizes in total).
Almost cheap enough for single use.
I wash them being the tight as!, the good lady doesn't.:D
Regarding stacking/storage, we treat them like a vacuum clothes storage bag.
Here's the tip;
Zip them almost shut, after flattening the food out as best you can.
Then insert a kids drinking straw in that corner and suck out as much air as possible, snapping shut the closure as the straw is pulled out.
It works really well and they stack much flatter.
If you grow your own tomatoes, they are great for storing cooked toms for use in cooking later in the year.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
I use ziplock bags from Ikea for some things in the freezer, mainly for whole chillies, quarters of lime/lemon, grated cheese, ice cubes etc. Things that you use only a bit of and put back. For freezing soups and other cooked food like spag bol, curry, chilli etc. I use food bags inside a container, then when the item is frozen, remove the container. Pop back into container when defrosting.0

fozziebear - where did you get your original Ziplock bags from? My sister gave me some of the quart and gallon bags which here friend brought over from the States when she visited. I think they are absolutely brilliant and would love to get some more.

No good to me I haven't got an Ikea anywhere near where I live and as far as I can remember they don't do online!
