heheh I'll have Leicestershire constabulary on speed dial just in case0 -
It must be public, you will have the postman, visitors all sorts of people wandering through. I would take private to mean something that belonged to me, not something that belonged to me and other people.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

No I am not one of those people in the article, although I am sure that some of the hardline anti-smokers would deem it to be an emergency. It will be ineteresting to see how the police enforce this new law, and if they will get involved in neighbourly disputes such as one neighbour smoking in a hallway?0 -
Even after the ban is introduced it will be none of the police's business since it will not be a criminal offence.
However, if the smokers throw their butts on the pavement that is littering, which is an arrestable offence.0 -
It really isn't TOO much to ask someone to light their cigarette 20 seconds later when they get outside the front door, but some smokers would appear to think you're asking them to lick the floors clean with their own tongue!!
Anyone who smokes in a communal hallway is very selfish, coz it seaps into other people's flats.
If they keep doing it, maybe roll one of those stink bomb pellets under their door, and blame it on a rat with a bad wind problem!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

And on a nice sunny day, wouldn't you prefer to sit in the sun in the communal garden instead? Not my neighbour!

Ah well, I'll chance it. The police will only have 21 doors to knock on to find the killer. My TV is broken!

Just remembered - as well as the cleaner, there's the postman. Hopefully the smoking ban might stop him coming into our entrance hall with a fag in his mouth and leaving the area by the mailboxes stinking.
It disperses after a bit, but if you go down just after he's been - phew!
Having said that, I'd rather have him turning up with a fag in his mouth than not turning up at all - my block hasn't had a mail delivery since about Wednesday (I hope there's been one today while I've been at work!)Operation Get in Shape
