for their basic step account, i am confused by this, they say the usual things, get my credit report, would i have stood a better chance of opening it, if i had been a bankrupt? Im looking to open another basic bank account, but don't know where and who will accept me now!
Whoops ignore this, letter was for credit card, not step account!!

I was gonna say, it's a poor state of affairs if NatWest reject you for a basic bank account.
I have known a few people and read several post here on MSE regarding NatWest refusing applicants so, they must do some sort of credit checking but, I would think you can still have a pretty poor credit rating to passProudly Banking & Saving With:
█ The Co-operative Bank.
█ Castle & Minster Credit Union.
