you could try a search on the bailii website for the case, if it was reported.
  • This is happening all over; people up and down the country are having a feudal right suddenly lorded over them. We have one too. The law, possibly, is on their side, in the same way that the law says Taxis have to carry a hay bale, but many years have passed and the status quo has changed.

Class action, beyond your development, for the whole country may be better – no idea how that is organised. No win no fee,?

I've tried BAILII but not found anything, maybe it didn't get as far as court in the end, the newspapers are incredibly vague.

So form UN4 is being submitted by us after speaking to the Land Registry, good news is you don't have to have any evidence to object, nor is there a deadline for doing so.

We have included the vague information we received on purchasing the house with the form, but I don't know if it will do any good.

Will keep you updated once I get a response!

If this is indeed the case (ie not just this isolated one-off case) then maybe a way forward might be to make a phonecall to http://frack-off.org.uk about this. It may be that various try-on merchants across the country as a group are getting wise to the possibilities of obtaining some money for themselves from fracking and hence why this is happening. The Frack Off Campaign might have heard other instances of this and be able to put people "on the receiving end" of this tactic in touch with each other?

It's not directly about fracking, if you don't get these rights registered before 13th October 2013, they disappear when the property is next sold.

Fracking is a possible side 'benefit' of keeping the rights.

    Just an update...

Due to the amount of harrassment and general abuse this guy got from the many people he did this to, he has withdrawn all applications! Got it in writing from the Land Registry aswell, so it's a big relief that this has all gone away :j

  • We have been working on a website to help obtain the 100,000 signatures required to get parliament to discuss manorial rights. The website is expected to become a focal point for a national campaign and is hoped to help to reach out and open communications with other areas affected by claims to manorial rights.

We are of a viewpoint that if 80,000 notices have been sent out by the Land Registry, then getting the 100,000 signatures on the e-petition to the government (not yet created) should not be out of the question. If people ask their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, uncles, cousins, friends and people in the workplace, enough support should be obtainable. We therefore suggest not only signing up on the website to follow the campaign as it progresses, but to share the website with people you know. So, please, take a look - feel free to make suggestions - and support the campaign.

There is now a petition to end these 'rights'. Please sign it and encourage others to do so too.
