Aqua Credit Card - Direct Debit Problems

Hi folks,
Anyone else had direct debit payment issues with an Aqua CC?
This is my first payment, so doubly concerned, as my Aqua account shows payment on the 21st August, then declined payment on the 22nd August & hit with £25 in charges for non payment.
I set up a direct debit when I applied in June, got a letter from Aqua confirming the direct debit was set up, and I also phoned them to confirm it was all fine as well, yet this has happened.
I called my bank (Lloyds) today & they have checked my account - there is no direct debit set up for Aqua. The girl I spoke to thinks that they haven't sent through the electronic mandate OR they got my details wrong when sending it, so it has never been done.
I'm absolutely livid at this - the whole point of getting this card was to help build up my credit rating a bit, and I fall at the first hurdle due to an error that Aqua make!
Can't call them from work as it's an 0845, so I've sent off a complaint, but if anyone has had similar issues & can offer advise I'd appreciate it greatly.
Thanks,
Brian

I always call them on 0113 244 8986. Hope that helps.
When you say you set up the direct debit when you applied, do you mean when you activated the card? A lot of people get caught out by the first direct debit. What you need to be sure about is that the direct debit was set up before the first statement. From what you say I'm fairly certain that's what you did but can never be sure.0 -
Yeah, it was all confirmed as set up correctly within the first few days of my application.
Thanks for that number, I'll try giving them a call & post the outcome.0 -
Have you still got the letter confirming the set up of the direct debit? That should cover you0

Hi,
I spoke to an advisor today as I was in the same boat - seems that they have been having direct debit issues. I made a payment over the phone, asked for the conversation to be noted on my account, so that I did get charged etc it would be reversed.People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks. Years later, a doctor will tell me that I have an I.Q. of 48 and am what some people call mentally !!!!!!.0 -
Yep, turned out exactly the same for me.
Should all be sorted now I hope, next statement is due tomorrow so we'll see.
They've definitely waived all the charges though.
Despite the problem, I have to say that the customer service seems quite good so far & very easy to get through to an actual person.0
