Opening WPS Works docs

I've just got a new PC running Windows 8 and I've been searching for a way to open Works documents that I transferred over from my old laptop. I'm the least Techie person in the world (well, almost) and I thought I'd have to fork out for MS Office as there's no basic word processing package on Windows (well if there is I haven't found it). There isn't much on the net about it but I found that installing the excellent (and free) Libre Office package the WPS docs open automatically. Sorted! Just thought I'd give a heads up for anyone facing the same problem.
