This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

• Good morning everyone :)

Hi and fly visit again as running late. Horrible tossing and turning night as stick and hot plus worry about DD and work etc.

Will try and catch up later but in the meantime, usual well wishes to all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

• Morning all!

Had a good day yesterday although I didn't make it to the gym I got everything else I'd planned done in time for an early night, snuggled up with my boys. Of course, the flip side of an early night is an early morning and I woke up at 5am today!

My plan is to go to Mass this morning, then walk to M&D's to water my seeds. I'll come home for a potter and then go to the gym in the afternoon. The plan's subject to change though as I think I might be developing a migraine. I can feel that tightness and pressure in my temple ... Maybe if I get busy and ignore it it'll go away!

Hope everyone has an OS day!

Morning everyone

Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x

Cloudy and overcast here this morning but forecast is for sun later. Greenhouse watered. Washing on the line.

DH up and off to work stupid early.

Had a lovely break away on our hols and now back to earth with a bump - DH already gone to work and I'm back today - got back from our last bit of our hols yesterday lunchtime. So managed to get several loads of washing done, still more to do so will keep plodding on with that. House looks a complete pit as stuff everywhere - so will be working on this over the next few days. Not away this next weekend so will be able to utilise that time to help get some decluttering done. Had a near disaster the day before our hols - had been working my way through the list of jobs ready for our hols and the main car needed filling with diesel and DH had asked if I got time could I go and fill it up ready for our 3am start the next day - I duly went and filled it - took it back to his work where I'd collected it from for him to come home in later and went home - was sorting through my handbag making sure I'd got all the docs/papers we needed and was shredding some receipts, checking them before putting them in the shredder to find I'd put £79.50 of unleaded petrol in our diesel car - cue panic phone call to DH not to start the car - had to ring breakdown cover company who sent a low loader to take car to their depot about 22 miles away unloaded it, pumped the diesel out, they put a gallon of diesel back in and charged a ridiculous amount and sent me on my way - fortunately because it still had a good quarter tank of diesel in it and I'd only driven it a short distance we were lucky it hadn't had time to work its way into the engine - cost a fortune but did manage to get away on hols the next morning - I got home that night at 10.30pm and we got up and was away at 4am - I did have some shut eye in the car. As you can imagine DH was fine about it whilst he was with everyone else at his workplace then had a right go at me at home - he can be a right b*****d at times - so my reply was "well that's what happens when 1 person has to try to do all the work" - I then was very quiet, I don't argue back as I just can't be bothered any more, it gets to him way more if I just go quiet and get on with what I need to.

DS1 got the results he needed to do his college course - he's not a grade A student but will only do enough to get by - so he starts college next week. DS2 goes back to school end of next week - can't believe how quickly holidays have passed this year.

Not looking forward to work today - as no doubt it will be completely manic as we were closed due to Bank Hol yesterday so everyone visits today instead!

Keep safe and well x

Dropping dd at work this morning, then home to go throught the whole house, the dust from the bedroom gets everywhere so need to sort that out.

Will jump in the shower and go and see my dad at lunchtime, them home to do some office work and cook a dinner, which will be lamb chops mash and veg.

DD is away to the Isle of Man on Thursday for the weekend, so she will need to get some washing done for taking with her.

Morning to all and hugs to those who need them

Had a great BH weekend, watching volleyball, eating and drinking with family and lots of walking along the fantastic coastline we have here in Kent.

Need to sort out all those outdoor jobs that need doing and get done, you can feel the summer coming to an end, sadly, in the evenings now but hope we still get lots of decent weather.

Need to use up salad etc so it's that for tea for us

Have a good day all

Happy Birthday Rosyred :bdaycake:

glitterkitty well done on your craft sales :T What do you make? Would love to see some pics. Love it when someone starts their own craft biz :D

Mr tru is back to work so I can straighten up his wonky DIY :rotfl:

Today I'm going to paint the ceiling, have challenged myself not to get paint in my hair :D

I cut up some MDF for shelves for the hall cupboard. I spent ages getting them just right, including cutting bits out to fit around the huge gas pipe that goes up the back wall. The pipe hasn't been in use for years but it's so thick that I couldn't cut through it to remove it, so I left it in :D Mr tru wanted to put the shelves up so I brought them in and propped them against the kitchen wall – and they stayed there for months, ggrrrrr. He put them up yesterday, I need to paint them but have filled them for now, I'm not starting a new paint job before the bathroom is finished. I keep opening the doors and admiring the nice neat rows of stationery, craft supplies, etc. :D The printer, laminator and sewing machine finally have a proper home.

First load of washing is on the line, second is in the machine and there's another load waiting to be done. I need to do the final coat of paint on a window sill and a small shelving unit for the bathroom. Mr tru pulled up loads of carrots yesterday so I'll be scrubbing, chopping and freezing them. I've scrubbed the cooker and cleaned the chickens out. I'm full of energy today, hopefully it'll last :D

Good morning,

DH back to work today so I have tidied the kitchen, sorted the recycling, unloaded and reloaded the DW and am trying to avoid looking at the ironing pile.

We finished the painting in the garden - DH wants to put a second coat onto the blue walls but that's because he had mixed up a huge tub of the blue paint and barely used any in painting the two little walls. I need to start thinking about the plants as it looks very bare out there now, but I dozed under the sunshade instead yesterday. Lovely.

DH's birthday present sorted now, he wanted an mp3 player, but DD suggested the best sort for him and ouch, it was costly. However, thanks to an online code, some of our Mr T vouchers plus using a cashback site, the money I'd mentally allotted just about covered it. I know he'll use it and enjoy it.

Lamb for dinner tonight, using up the last of the fresh veg with it.

Have the best day you can, x

Morning all,

An early start for me as I have an ultrasound this morning. I'm trying to drink 2 litres of water and not go to the loo. Not easy:eek:
The early start means I don't get chance for my legs to become less stiff from the night time so I'm walking round like the tin man:rotfl:
DS is back at work today after his month off with the black dog. I'm anxious, I really hope he manages ok. Fingers crossed. I know he's feeling much better but its scary going back to your job and coping.
Glad I'm not the only one with a dirty son! We managed to get the glow paint off his face yesterday and I washed his sleeping bag after sweeping it out omg first time for everything.
Have been invited to my sons for tea tonight as they. Have a new table and chairs they want to try out:D looking forward to it and no cooking for me.
Hubby is busy but stressed. We have some decorating to get on with but he has hurt his back so trying to be careful. I know my brother won't care if we've decorated or not but I would like it finished, oh hum. Last night we pit the new plaster board up were we've had the leak so it just needs plastering and painting now. All these jobs take up so much time. I am not much help at the moment.
I'm trying to paint the skirting boards but have to shuffle along on my bum as I can't. Kneel, not a pretty sight:rotfl:
Life is hard sometimes but I'm trying to stay positive.
Big hugs for anyone else struggling at the moment x

Back later, have a good day x

Morning All

:bdaycake: RosyRed & my DH

We are on the A30 heading out of Cornwall  but we have 2 nights at Cirencester before heading home. It was rather busy, and bit slow, but now its turned into dual carriageway we are OK.

Meeting up with another of the Ralliers at the CC site, and hopefully will walk into the town for a meal out tonight, need somewhere suitable for dogs & 2 wheelchairs  it has been a lovely 15 nights, and very reasonable. Not really done as much sightseeing as I would have liked, but always an excuse to return in a year or so.

Mountain of washing in the 'van, will worry about that on Friday:D:D

((Hugs))' Spoons, and positive vibes all round. Take care everyone DG

Laughing at the tales from those with kids at Leeds or Reading, reminds me of when DS2 went to Glastonbury one year when it was really wet: he was so muddy that it took 2 showers and 2 baths to get him clean! I chucked his sleeping bag away as it couldn't be resurrected.

The next few years he took a roll of bin bags & masking tape - he would put a bin bag over each foot and tape it to his thigh, then get dressed, then put another bin bag on each leg, then put his wellies on - he said it was sweaty & smelly but dry!
