Someone has credited my account, don't know who!

Hello!

I am a newbie so if I do something wrong or have posted in the wrong place please forgive me!!

Anyway - I have received a bank statement today and on the 6th "ACTION FOR EMP." has credited my account with £61.25. I have no idea who or what this is.

Has anyone heard of them?
Is there a way if I contact my bank that they can be traced?

Thanks in advance.

It could be an error in that they meant the money to go to someone's account but they messed up the account number/sort code. Best not spend it just yet! :p As someone says above, best contact your bank and ask them to record the fact that you've queried it.

I was credited with nearly £22,000 from Leeds University, I didnt know what to do, after reading various banking error posts, my bank had removed the money and sent me a letter of apology.

If I'd informed the bank, they may have given me £50 for informing them.

What to realise is, the larger the sum, the easier it is to trace, a nice round £10 transaction will occur millions of times a day, mine was something obscure like £21,875.92. The number of transactions that day, at that exact figure would be less than ten, Id imagine.

Thanks for all your replies, I tried phoning my bank several times yesterday but was on hold for so long I gave up. Going to go in there this afternoon and speak to someone.

    Thanks again!
