The Incapacity Benefit and Income Support decisions sound correct. You could try a claim for DLA if you haven't already done so. It might be worth having a look at entitledto.com to see if there is anything else you can claim as a couple.

When my partner lived with me he worked 40 hours per week. I was still entitled to full Severe disablement allowance with income support which was changed to long term incapacity benefit (with child tax credit). My GP was great at helping.
You should try contacting your local social work department and ask if they have an independant benefts advisor. Mine did and she was fantastic, she applied for everything for me (back dated too). At least she told me what i was entitled to not like the benefits department who only tell you what you aren't entitled to. sooooooo not helpful!!!!

Nothing is ever so bad that you need to end your life please see your doctor tell him how low you feel, if you can't do that use a helpline ie samaretins
  • ive never applied for dla before partly because ive never really seen myself as disabled, and partly because i thought i wouldnt get it. i may look into it now. thankyou to those who have replied for helping me and making me feel a little less alone, you are good people.
  • contact local welfare rights officer.you will probably get it through a citizens advice bureaux.please see your dr asap.good luck
