Invasive Google Calendar Spam?

Hi all, my phone's just alerted me to a Google calendar event (Attn: Good Day Sir/Madam) which didn't really ring any bells.
I checked my Gmail inbox, but nothing.
In my Spam mailbox however, sits an email from a Barrijere DeDeen, the contents of which are as follows...
"I am Barrister Williams Z E Deen the personal resident Attorney here in Burkina Faso to Late Hero Muammar Gaddafi from Libya.
Late African Hero Muammar Gaddafi died along with his son who supposes to be his next of kin during Libya political war.
My client was having the sum of thirty million four Hundred thousand united state dollars ($30.4m USD) with African Development Bank Burkina Faso.
I want us to transfer this money into your account as a deal if interested I advice you reply as soon as possible and please if interested reply to (barrijereddnn1@gmail.com)
Thanks,
Barrister Williams Z E Deen"
Obviously, this is quite some offer, and something I'm going to have to take time to consider (i.e. It's already deleted), but what's worrying me is that Google allows the emails (with attached calendar invite) of a spammer, to automatically be added to my calendar, and aptly timed alarms to be set automatically.
Has anyone else experienced this?
My worry is that this could happen again, and a potential alarm wake me up at stupid o'clock, WITHOUT me having the ability to inflict physical pain to said spammer.

Unfortunately this does happen with gmail as it awaits you to delete such rubbish and until so adds it as tentative appointment0
