Asbestos in garage roof

Hi
We bought out house last year and there is an old garage which needs knocking down. The issue is that I think that the roof contains asbestos. Our budget is limited – I was looking for a good firm around Hertfordshire (near Watford) who would quote to remove and dispose of any asbestos.
I know it’s hard to say – but for say a roof of a 10x4 metre garage, how much would it cost to dispose of the asbestos?
Appreciate any advice and any good companies to remove/dispose of
Thanks

It depends what type of asbestos it is. If it is cement based asbestos then you don,t have to have a licensed asbestos company, but someone who is asbestos aware, and double bag it etc. if it is Asbestos Insukating board, brown, then you need a licensed person. The first scenario is considerably cheaper than the second. We had AIB in our garage ceiling and it cost £1100 to remove; if it had been cement based it would have been closer to £400. It measured about 17m2.0
