  • wow you got a 2004 car on HP.

let me guess a corsa 1.0 or 1.2 timing chain engine?

oil light flickering could be the oil pressure switch common known to leak oil.

tapping noises probably timing chain tensioner, people have them changed but dont realise that the cams actually supply oil to the chain once the little hole in the oil feed of the cam gets blocked, supply of oil tens to run low and thus dries up the chain, the chain then excessivley wears the tensioner as its a plastic one casuing the tapping noises garages should flush the hole through, and renew the oil in the engine to spec oil.

its not uncommon for a vx to have HG issues, but simuarly if the car has 40k only on it then thats really low miles and short trips prevent the engine getting to temp, condensation builds up and then that condensation is absorpbed into the oil causing a milking effect just like a HG failure and often a mis diagnosis on the garages part, upon seeing that milking assumes the engine HG has failed, when it all it needs is a oil changed and flush.

to your question of having the garage replace the car, then your best bet is to have a indy garage inspect the car this costs you a fee, and you get a report on the engines and overall cars condition.

if the engine is on it lasts legs according to a professional report then you have grounds to reject the vehicle in theory.

approach the garage would me my advice, give them reasonable time to inspect and rectify the problem FOC, if after then the repair is not of satifactory quality (not rectified or poor workmanship) then i would push them to offer you a replacement or cancel the HP refund your money.

they gave it to you with below min oil in it? why did not call them and say hey the agila has no oil in it and you let me drive all that way.

1.2 agila has same timing chain engine.

unfortunately if you ran it on no oil likely hood is that the engine is damaged.

1.2 engine takes more than 2litres, IIRC its 4.2 liters of oil in the engine to show on max mark but if there wasnt enough oil in it, oil pressure would have suffered, supply to integral engine parts compramised and damage ensues.

does it now chuck out smoke? from the rear tail pipe like a whit/blue smoke

    Equals =fgsdfsdf

dealer used car faulty 1month not happy

    I got a Vauxhall 2004 1month ago

first week I had a tapping noise that was hydraulic noise and oil light was on when idle but now was fixed

well after 4weeks I noticed I keep getting a rattle noise from engine which as now worried me and I noticed after driving a flick of the oil light and then after when I was idle the oil light was showing so now im worried it needs a lot of work to the engine

I found out the headgasket was replaced last year at 40k which as worried me a lot because why did a 2004 40k have a head gasket issue unless it was ragged which I wasn't told when I brought on hp hire purchase

so now I want to return car and replace with a different one where do I stand because I don't want to keep a car that as faults after 1month and worried its on its last legs

I paid 1,495 and it feels like the car isn't even worth that with the problems I got

Have you checked the MOT history on the direct.gov website to check the mileage is genuine?
