Gmail syncing issues on phone

Having an issue on galaxy ace

I have set up a gmail account a few months ago, to be able to use the email function on another phone to access a sky.com account.
So i have been trying to set up the email on this new phone. If i send a email in the sky account, it is recevied in the gmail(if i refresh).

However, it is only received on the phone if gmail is refreshed(currently doing this on a laptop). I thought i have synced everything, and have no issue on my iphone with gmail accounts, so why on this phone?

This isnt my phone, but a friend who isnt great at this(and neither am i by the looks of it!) so want to be able help.

Is there a setting on the phone to automatically fetch mail.

On the iphone you can set the time that the mail is "pushed" to you, e.g every 15minutes or hourly.

Maybe that has not been set up yet on the Galaxy Ace

Its working if I send the account an email to its self, but if I send via the sky, takes ages. Maybe its sky?

wiogs- I cant see a "push" button, that's what i've been looking for

As you will be aware on the iPhone the push setting in Mail not sure where it is in Android.

I have a Sky account that syncs no problem with an iPhone

No.

Sky email is based on Yahoo (currently)

On the android phone you are having problems with:

Go to Programs and look for "Settings"
Scroll down to "Accounts" and look for "Google" select it.
Check the top of the screen it should tell you when the accounts were last synced. (it should have a yellow circle with arrows in it)

Tap the account name.
Look down the lost to see what is and is not ticked
Make sure "Gmail" is ticked and check when it last synced.
If you un-tuck and then re-tick it forces a sync to happen.

Now give it a few mins
