As you can't do messy play could you do something like this?

If it's been raining there's always jumping in puddles!0 -
Have you thought about buying an Aquadraw? The only messy thing is water which is easily cleaned up.
Magic Maize from the Early Learning Centre is a non-messy creative toy which just uses water as well, although you may find bits of it get flung everywhere.0 -
I agree with the suggestions to let kiddies learn to entertain themselves sometimes, last thing you want is a 10yr old who needs constant direction on what they need to occupy their time with.
DD is nearly 3 and she likes happyland type toys, she plays house with them, carries them around in her handbag, "reads" them stories etc
Oh and not all messy is very messy - try a big tray on a sheet filled with small dried pasta shapes, add a toy buldozer and maybe a dumper truck and away they go. Or some plastic cups for scooping and pouring. It just sweeps up after. I've also done it with value cornflakes - 55p for a big bag - for some different texture.
We try to have one quiet day at home per week. Actually, its rarely quiet, but it means I can do a few housey jobs and they can get better aquainted with their toys!Bossymoo
