Motability car went back on the 22/7/13. Letter from Motability said my DLA mobility element would be paid to me as from the 24/7/13.
Just another example of the DWP being totally inefficient.
Will wait until mid October and ring them up and wait to hear the excuses that they will no doubt offer!!

You have to where the DWP are concerned. 12 weeks to process a DLA claim, months to process an ESA claim, 20 weeks for a decision on a Pension Credit claim.
3 months is about right to have the mobility element put into payment I would guess.
I will be more interested in hearing what another load of excuses they will come up with!
As for ringing them up, I am almost sure that they have a handbook of explanations and excuses to decide from. Have you ever tried ringing the help line up? It takes 10 mins to get through and after another 10 mins I am reliably told that they don't have that information 'it isn't on our system - try ringing again and this time get put through to the change of circumstances section'. ahhhhhh not another 10 mins of listening to that damn music - no way!!0 -
I believe that in these situations, it does make a difference to be persistent and continuously exhaust all possible avenues until they sort out what they rightfully should.
This isn't right and sounds like a single person in the system messed something up - this needs to be rectified ASAP! I would not recommend that you sit about and wait, just in case it's be lost, filed away somewhere - and is waiting for you to call whoever up to dig it up and sort it out.0 -

You are correct, it isn't right. But the question of responsibility arises. Is it my responsibility to take time out of my busy schedule to harass the DWP to make sure that they do their job, a job that they are being paid to do?
It's almost the case that people have been led to believe that part of making a claim and getting it put into payment is for the claimant to take responsibility to ensure that the actions are taken.
I have this problem every week with one department or another of the DWP. I am still waiting for evidence from them that my wife owes them just over £150 from way back in 1989. Twice I have made telephone calls to the debt recovery office and twice I have been promised the information. The last call was over 5 months ago. In the meantime they are continuing to recover just over £3 a week out of her State Pension!
At the moment I am battling with HMRC who have made an almighty mess up of my affairs. If only they had followed my instructions as to what to do and why, it need never have happened. Every other day I get a letter from them which makes the matter worse. I keep firing off appeals and letters of dispute but no one is taking responsibility.
Again I'll let them dig a big enough hole and see what happens - I'm certainly not wasting any more of my time trying to help them out. Six months I give them, and will then start the ball rolling again.0 -
Your life must be hell Andy, all this hassle for a mere £500 a week, goodness its almost like having to work full time in your worldIts not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0

Yes it is Andy. What really gets me is the incompetence of the DWP and HMRC.
How difficult can it be to tell a computer to start making DLA payments direct to me instead of Motability?
And what ever happened to the targets that are supposed to be adhered to? Why are letters, appeal and such like never acknowledged giving a date by which the problem would be sorted by? Whatever happened to the system of ensuring that the full contents of a telephone conversation are recorded and then actioned within a few days or a week maybe?
The claimant is required to attend to any request by the DWP/HMRC within 30 days, why don't they ensure that they comply in the same way?
It is much like a full time job - you wouldn't believe the amount of paperwork that dealing with government departments can generate - most of it is pure nonsense!0 -

And some get to enjoy their retirement as they don't spend their lives trying to maximise benefits. I'd be mortified if my parents spent what could possibly be their last years squabbling over money they didn't need and had so much they couldn't spend it.0 -

Hey! All I want is what I was awarded - the mobility element of DLA.
That isn't about maximising entitlement - it is receiving what is duly mine by right.
Who said I didn't need it - it all comes in handy down to the last penny.
Of course we can spend it, try telling my wife that - she would have a heart attack on the spot! She rolled home on Saturday after spending the day shopping with our daughters' with a Mullberry handbag (if that is how you spell it) - when I asked how much it cost - I was told not to ask!.
