Scammed by Q Clinic Orthodontists

Hi All,
Hoping that someone can give me some advice on how to get my money back for a service never received from a company called Q Clinic on Harley Street.
I ordered Invisalign back in January 2013 following a series of consultations with Dr Anand (apparently one of the leading practitioners of Invisalign, Hahaha!). I was told that my treatment would start in May of that year and since then my treatment has been constantly postponed.
Having received the latest email (which advised that they could not now confirm when the treatment would start) I decided to Google the company and it seems that there are loads of us in the same position due to unpaid debts with Invisalign.
My question now is, how do I go about getting a refund? The company Q Clinic has gone into Administration but as I paid on a credit card, I understand that I am protected, just not sure how to go about it.
Would also be interested to hear from any other people who have had similar experiences.
Thanks all.

Thanks for this. Looks like I can get the money back.
One point I'm not sure on; the clinic said that I needed to have a hygienist appointment prior to the treatment, which I have now had but which was expensive and I only had in order to have the Invisalign treatement. Can I request a refund for this too?May'18 DEBT FREE!

The dentists and the credit card company are bound by the same contract. If you can claim any consequential losses such as the hygienist will depend on the terms of the contract you agreed to.
Even if the contract doesnt limit liability then you are unlikely to recover all the costs for the hygienist as evidently you did get some benefit from the treatment. Was the hygienist done at the same place or not? Assuming it wasnt you need to be careful in your wording as clearly you want to recover both from the orthodonist not try and get money back from the hygienist themselves who havent done anything wrong0 -
Thanks for your advice. The Hygienist appointment was at the same clinic. I did benefit from it, but it was supposed to be done in order for the treatment to be done. 6 months later, the teeth are probably not in the same state; so hopefully I will be able to argue that it was pointless!May'18 DEBT FREE!

Your card provider will do a chargeback for non receipt of service here.
So no you will not get a refund for the treatment you received.
Unless of course it was ALL included in the price and not broken down on a invoice.
Ring your card provider and get the ball started now.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -
Thanks for the advice. Will start the ball rolling now.
If anyone knows a decent Orthodontist in the London/Surrey area would love to hear some genuine recommendations!May'18 DEBT FREE!

Hi There!
I'm completely shocked by this news, because I've only found out today that there is something dodgy going on with Q clinic.
Last August 2013 I still had appointments in Q clinic and since then they emailed me to let me know that they have problems with their supplier. They did apologies for the delay, but I was promised that clinical manager will get back to me. It has been 6 months now! I paid upfront and I'm in the middle of the treatment ( I've worn aligners 5 months and in Aug 13 another mould was taken to prepare new aligners). What shall I do?
I've been to Q clinic today and found out that they relocated to the new address, which was just up the street. I went there and none of Q Clinic staff was there! I was seen by independent doctor who has nothing to do with Q Clinic, but let Dr Anand to use their facilities for a time being.
I don't know if he comes back there, also they emails and phones don't seem to work. So probably it is right that they have gone into administration.
I think I paid with my credit card. Can I get money back in full from my bank?0 -
Hi There,
I'm so sorry to hear about this, I'm shocked that QClinic are allowed to go on trading. If I understand right, you're in the middle of treatment, is that right? Unbelievable. The bad news is that I think you're very unlikely to have them finish the treatment or to ever hear from them again. The good news is that if you paid for your treatment on a credit card, you will get it back.
I had my full costs refunded within a 6-8 weeks of putting in the claim and this included the orthodontist work they had already carried out as a pre-treatment. If I were you, I would get the ball rolling on this asap. If you're in the South London area and looking for a new dentist, then I'm more than happy to recommend my new one who has been brilliant.
Good luck!May'18 DEBT FREE!

Hi There,
Thank you for your post.
I'll get the ball rolling. I've been waiting to long. No one from Q clinic is getting back to me and all emails are bouncing back.
Luckily I paid with the credit card, so I'm hoping to get money back.
I only wonder, how much I could claim back? As I said, I was given aligners for April to August 13, and then I supposed to get another pack of aligners. To be frank, I'd love to get the full amount back, especially for those 6 months Q Clinic messed me around. If I had been given aligners then, I'd probably have finished the whole treatment by now.
Thank you for recommending the dentist. I'll need to find a new orthodontist though to finish the treatment.
I'm so pleased that you got your money back for the pain that you had to go through with Q Clinic.
All the best!0 -

My advice would be to claim for all of it. From my understanding of how bad Dr Anand's treatment is, it is likely that you will need to start the treatment from scratch, and that is how I would word it when applying for Section 75. With regards to my dentist, I should have been clearer, he is an orthodontist who also does dental work, based in Kingston.
Best of luck with your claim, I think Q Clinic are now known as being appalling scammers, so you shouldn't have too many issues!May'18 DEBT FREE!
