Can anyone help please. I have a problem which seems to be something to do with hotmail.

For the last week every time I turn on my lap top I get a message asking me to sign in to my microsoft account. I do this and then I can access hotmail. However, it also tells me to request a code that I can use if I have access problems in future. It says it will send me said code to my hotmail address (no code arrives each time and I get a further message saying that this service is not available at this time....or something similar)

It then tells me I can skip getting this code but will have to do it within 7 days - this number of days has counted down until today it is now saying its the final time I can skip it.

I really dont know if this means tomorrow I can access my hotmail. Its maddening and I cant find any info on google about it.

If anyone can enlighten me Id be so grateful.

I know this sounds strange but I am sure its not a scam, the address is showing as microsoft with https.

It needs to be an alternate email address or phone number doesn't it?

Hi,thanks - Ive tried that too. It just seems to go round in a circle.

I dont get the code and then it says I can skip that step for originally 7 days which is counting down and today it is saying this is the last time I can skip it :(

Ive just tried updating security info and now it says it will delete my old security info - it then gives my current email address - in 30 days. What on earth does that mean? If they delete my email address then I will have no access to all my stuff?

Excuse me whilst I rant and curse!!!

Tried to read emails at 6.30 am and get this message. Brain still on sleep mode, so confused.com. I do have another email address registered but never had a code???? Click no code just pushes me back to first bit. Manage to watch the video explaining it. Oh I had already been on the other address first and nothing from Microsoft.:mad:

Then tells me I had to wait 24 hours as I had too many codes!!! !!!!!!!!!! Didn't get a f******* code in the first place. Go back to other email and hey there is a code. Put it in and get into hotmail.

So were where they when my hotmail was hacked before, why now suddenly oh you need a code for security????!!!!:mad::mad::mad:

You need to put in a mobile/home number for them to send you the code, that is if you do not have alternative email address. I am luck I have Virgin one. I have three email addresses(don't ask).

Oh by the way, you cannot sign into any Microsoft email, you get the front page asking for the code you cannot move passed it without the bloody code!!!!
