"Long" time for petrol station to take payment

Anyone know why it may take a petrol station a long time to take payment via VISA debit card?

I bought fuel over a week ago and the money still hasn't left my acct, nor is it even reflected in available balance.

It was a BP/M&S station so not like it was a tiny outlet. I'm accounting for it, it's just annoying to have a large amount of money lurking waiting to come out.

I bought a suit in Burtons in Liverpool in 1993 and the money has still never left my account. I closed that credit card in 1998.

Likewise, but mine was a McDonalds.

After 6 months I decided to make an adjustment to my accounts.

More importantly, have you still got the suit and does it still fit? :rotfl:

They can just take it out at anytime during the next six month.

They then have a further 5.5 years to take it but they have to warn you in advance that they are going to take It out.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

No, lasted a couple of years.

I am the same size now at 49 as I was then at 29.

Just a bit less hair and teeth. :(

My current suit is 6 years old and from Asda. I am on the second jacket and fifth pair of trousers. A bit like Trigger's broom there!!

lol I made a 50 dollar purchase in New York a year ago and their card machine was broken so they used an old zip zapper. It wasn't till I got back home that I realised that they had given me the merchant copy. I never did get charged.

I've also had this a couple of times in the UK with my Amex in the past (several years ago) merchants are meant to use a seperate one provided by Amex but instead they use a Visa/MC one and you never get charged.
