Gas inset fires - open front or glass fronted?
Options
Am about to re-do the fireplace and am replacing an old valor 426 oxysafe unit. We need to establish what are the pros and cons of glass fronted versus open fronted units. Can anyone advise which are the best? Pros and cons of each etc. We have 3 young children and therefore am swayed towards the glass fronted HE units?
We have gas central heating so the gas fire will be used as a 'boost' to get the room warm, but needs to look good as well.
Can anyone enlighten us please?
Currently favouring the Flavel HE units - available in glass fronted or open fronted.
Many thanks

The glass will prevent some of the heat from warming the room.
Whilst the glass will prevent little inquisitive fingers from touching the flames, the glass will get extremely hot and will equally burn said fingers if they touch the glass. Use a fireguard0
