Credit Card NOW

in Credit cards
Hello, Newbie here!
I booked car hire in Italy, commencing Wednesday 28 August (<36 hours' time).
The small print for the car hire booking asks for payment by credit card only and mine expired end July 13 (I don't normally use credit cards so saw no need to renew - I'm much happier with debit cards).
Here's the question: Where can I get a credit card NOW (ie., before 0930 Wednesday Morning).
Any positive comments greatly appreciated.

Try Metrobank (if you have a branch near you)
CandyDebts at the start of my journey - about £23,000 lightbulb moment 01.03.2007 (1st payment to CCCS)..Debt Free Date 25.06.2013 Deposit savings £17,000/£30,0000 -
You could try MetroBank, but you will need their current account.
If you just need the code (Card No and CV2) -Barclay's at one point would give you them if approved, instantly (I think this may have been withdrawn).
Could you not try calling the previous provider and ask them to courier a new card?
Otherwise, call the rental company and ask if they can make an exception.Thank you all for helping me make my day by saving money!0 -
Thanks for the advice.
I'll try Metrobank tomorrow (were closed when I rang at 1830).
Already sent email to agent for rental company but no reply so far.

I agree with the previous poster, you could try calling the provider of the card that expired in July 2013. If the card was expiring they usually send out a new one in advance. They may be able to assist. Good luck to you!

Aha! This happened to me with a car hire in southern France. The blurb said credit cards only. No debit cards accepted. Woke up that morning to leave and couldn't find my CC anywhere. A frantic call to the hire company from the airport didn't help, "Visa or MasterCard credit cards only". Made for a long flight(!)
Arrived and they had no issue using my debit card. As long as it has a visa or MasterCard logo on it you should be fine. It appears a debit card in Europe is different to what we think of. I can only assume they mean cards that can only be used at the customers bank ATM's or some other nation based supplier network rather than worldwide like visa. I know for a fact that american bank/debit cards can be like this, that may even be who they are targeting
You will probably want to have some cash on that debit card/bank account though. They may take/shadow a sizeable retainer
Don't stop pursuing a CC just in case, but hopefully you have nothing to worry about
Edit. Just had a dig through the archives and the car hire company was National0
