I really can't believe anyone buys from Dominos...my local guy will deliver 2x12 inch for £8 and they're considerably nicer.

Anyway, to the maths...thank you Martin, you've confirmed I'm not alone on this. My wife has berated me in the past as being the saddest of sad for going through the same thought process, albeit with 2 x 9 versus 1 x 12 inch pizza (for the record the 2 x 9 is bigger by a ratio 162:144...ie 12.5% more pizza). The bit you missed, which I think is what inkbm's getting at, is that crust is largely redundant infrastructure just there to hold the pizza together and typically is the same width regardless of pizza size. For a strict comparison, then, you need to know a little about the target pizzas...e.g. if the crust is 0.5 inch wide, my 2 x 9 versus 12 comparison should really turn into 2 x 8.5 x 8.5 versus 11.5 x 11.5, ie 144.5 versus 132.25...the 9 inch still wins, but actually only by 9.2%...

Of course, if you're a real saddo and actually prefer crust, then the smaller ones definitely win...half as much crust again as the one big one.

    I'll get my coat...

    Domino's tricks and tips:

Students get 25% off and yet only one person has ever asked me about student discount.
Police will get 30% off, it requires a manager's authorisation (don't worry, its simple) and a quick flash of the badge. If the person taking your order doesnt know what you're on about, tell them "PPC Discount".
Domino's is running a campaign in local papers, not sure how wide spread, offering Buy One Get One Free on collection, and Buy One Get One Half Price on delivery. But here's the killer, you must ask. we're not supposed to tell you it if you just ask for "what deals have you got on right now?". In my branch, they're supposed to say the papers name before we give them discount.
If you're phoning in, ask for your "free side order of garlic pizza bread" from the "box top voucher" you got. These 'vouchers' (actually just labels stuck on the box) are sent with every first order (if you wanna see it, just phone in on number which isn't in their system). These vouchers are never collected, so grab a free side order :-)
If your pizza is crap, tell them, if its cold, tell them. They will almost automatically offer you a free pizza, say you don't want it tonight (its too late blah), then you can ask them to have it next time.
Someone has already mentioned the £9.99 deal on collections only, but soon to be released is the Large Pepperoni Passion deal for £9.99 / Collection or Delivery. Not out yet though, try in a weeks time.

As for create your own topping pizzas, double cheese doesn't count (although triple cheese counts as one topping). The sauce doesn't count. If you have only pepperoni one one half of the pizza, then thats only half a topping but you'll get charged a whole unless you pick another topping to balance it on the other side (just the way the computers work).
Hawaiian pizzas: NEVER ask to remove the mushroom. If you want just ham and pineapple, ask for ham and pineapple... its cheaper.

Oh, and the best deal of all is if you know someone who works there. Whilst employees are working they get 60% off, and they can give this to family members etc.

You gotta admit, Domino's pizza's taste mighty good compared to other little local shops. And 20 minutes to your door on average is pretty good!

The £9.99 offer is both delivery and collection here (Bristol Whiteladies Rd shop).

My friend also sometimes orders pizza for collection from Pizza Express. Apparently it's cheaper to have a Cheese pizza with Pepporoni as an extra topping, than to order a pepperoni pizza!

If you mean at Domino's then I believe when you order a 'pepperoni pizza' they give you a 'pepperoni passion' off the menu. This has double cheese and double pepperoni.
They say you can't put a value on life... but I live it at half price!
  • My local Domino's always has really good offers. The standard long term ones are:
£9.99 Any pizza, anysize + garlic bread. Collection only.
£10.99 Any pizza, any size + garlic bread. Delivered.
£14.99 Any pizza, any size + garlic bread + coleslaw + drink.

50% vouchers come through the post ALL the time!

Not surprised, as they are competing with local deals like:
    £9.90 Any 3 large (12") pizzas, delivered!!!
    £0.99 Individual 6"x8" pizza.

BTW a local italian also does a expensive (well £8-£12ish) 16"x24" pizza. Is it a good deal? Sounds small but I would think it must be huge for the price.

Assume it's rectangular rather than oval? That would make it 384 square inches. If my o-level maths are correct, that's the equivalent of a 22 inch diameter circular pizza or just over 3 x 12 inch pizzas. Hope you're peckish...

  • Just been playing around on the Domino's site and a top tip from me:

Toppings are charged at £1 each on create your own.
The Domino's Full House Pizza on the menu is £13.99 but has NINE toppings.
You can choose to customise the full house pizza, remove all nine toppings and choose another nine toppings of your choice at no extra cost!

So effectively £5 worth of toppings for free!
This is great for going mad on pizzas and getting those strange combinations you always wanted but never tried (either too embarrassed to ask or too expensive lol)!

If you want to be even more crazy you can do a 1/2 and 1/2 pizza with a different 9 toppings on each half!
