Our neighbours want to change their front garden to a parking area, they have been told they need planning permission for change of use.The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. Member 10

Yeah, i remember the council said that some people need planning permission. When i phoned they looked up my address and said that i didnt.
I think its mainly listed buildings that need planning permission but there were some other instances as well0 -

2. Place a piece of wood (length of wood = Width of driveway) at the base of the existing kerd like so:

X = Wood, viewed as if you had your face side-on to the kerb, looking along it.
3. Enjoy the fact that your will now go up the driveway fine, and that your wallet is not a grand lighter!
Legally, you can't do that as you're crossing council property not made for that purpose.
I'm away to get a driveway put in and have been quoted £543 to lower the kerb for a double driveway. I've also been told that if my driveway is in first (which it will be) then I can't use it until the kerb is lowered.0 -
its definately worth getting quotes...my 1st quote off the council (who contracted it out) was £1300.Smile and be happy, things can usually get worse!0

I was quoted £700-ish, which seemed expensive!
I have subsequently been told to approach the council on a regular basis to see if they have scheduled in any pavement resurfacing work.
If you schedule your dropped kerb at the same time that the pavement is being resurvaced you can negiociate a lower price, 'cos they are already doing most of the work required.0 -
Thanks - i think i will do that, think that the cost is a bit OTT!!

Cheap maybe, but nothing to stop people parking infront of your drive. Then your shiney new drive isnt too much use.
But a dropped kerb doesn't stop some people from parking infront of your driveway !! grrrrrrrrrrrr
Sorry I've come home from work far too many times to find visitors to neighbours houses, parents waiting for their kids to finish school etc parked across the driveway.Debts: Mum £3923 0% APR0
