PC sound cutting out for a sec and coming back

Hi,

I wondered if anyone would be able to help. For the last couple of weeks whenever I am listening to anything (Itunes, on the web, vlc media player etc.) sound is intermittent. It cuts out for a sec every 1-2 sec and then comes back and does that again. It is really getting annoying and I am not sure how to fix it. Any ideas?

Sound card breaking down or PC overheating. Just guess work, have you made sure vents are clear and the fan is working.

Hi I can definitely hear the fan working and all the vents appear to be clean. Is there any way I can test if it is the sound card?

Has the PC been moved about a lot recently? Has the sound card become loose?

There is no obvious software conflict that you know of?

What operating system are you using e.g Windows 7

It sounds like a sound card fault, can you get hold of another sound card to give it a try ?

Are you able to listen on headphones/earphones to see if the fault happens there?
