necklace lost in washer

My daughter had left her gold chain in her skirt pocket and i've washed them without checking so now its lost.

My question is would there be any way of me getting this back or is it lost forever. :mad:

Your washing machine will have a filter, find your instruction book if you are unsure where it is. But I believe all machines have a filter on the front usually near the bottom of the machine . Put a bowl below as some surplas water will run out, and make sure the machine is not in use. Usually you just turn the filter knob and the necklace should be there, the filter usually catches buttons and small change which has been left in pockets by accident. If its not there try after another couple of washes as it should works its way down to the filter (remember to put the filter back in place once you have checked there)

Our last couple of machines have had a 'trap' in the front of the machines near the bottom on the front accessable by a small door. Current one has a knob behind door which I unscrew anti clockwise. Just checked & found the usual assortment of safety pins, paperclips & small bits of metal.....hopefully you'll get lucky. Have a towel handy as you'll get a bit of water leakage.
