I just spoke to Barclays, old egg card, and didnt even have to mention closing the account. I was offered 0% balance transfer until April 2015. Two months ago, I was offered nothing. Things are picking up. I am transferring £5400.
This will mean I pay off £100 a month more than on HSBC for same minimum payment. :rotfl:
Moral of the story. If at first you don't suceed, try, try again. Asking if you have any available balance transfer offer has no impact on credit score so ask every card provider every week.
I was not made aware of this by post or email so if I hadnt have rang up I would never know.
I will use the transfer to empty HSBC and then ask them the same question. I thing this is covered very well in MSE main site if anybody else is interested in doing the same.
A good day!
