Fixed line alias for mobile phone?

Options
Hi all. I wonder if anyone can help me. I am starting up a consulting business from home after redundancy. Rather than put in a third phone line (my wife has the second line for her own work) I am wondering if it is possible to buy/rent a "fixed line" phone number that I can publicise but which automatically diverts all incoming calls to my mobile (and shows itself as such on the mobile display so I know to answer as a business and not as a non-business call).

It would be even better if it worked in reverse too i.e. I could dial out from the mobile with some prefix that would make it appear to the receiver that it came from my "fixed line" number, but that is less important.

It feels like an obvious need but I can't find anything by Googling.

Thanks in advance.

Leslie

Yep, pretty much all companies like dmclub.net will provide this service for geographical and non-geo numbers. You obviously pay for the mobile call forwarding from the landline number.

Have a look at Skype, as they also offer a service where you can divert the SkypeIN number to a mobile. Generally their rates for the divert to mobile can be cheaper than others.

You could also answer the Skype calls to say a 020 123456 via a laptop, ipad etc. call quality has improved over the years.

Oh yes, also have a look at sipgate.co.uk - it's a PAYG VOIP company where you can pick your geo number (so set for yourself wherever you want to appear to be). It means you can answer calls on your laptop, voicemail, or divert it to your mobile, or have it routed to your mobile if you don't answer the ringing on your laptop fater x rings, etc.

Vodafone offer this to small business users - the 01 number is available in a number of geographically significant areas, and calls to it are delivered to your mobile with NO diversion or usage costs.
