    Hope this helps.

ETA - I would definitely get all 3, you need to check that the data is accurate, particularly if you've already found an error on one of the reports.

Consider signing up for www.checkmyfile.com to get access to all three versions in the same place, but cancel any subscription before you start to pay for it. As has been mentioned, CRA "scores" are meaningless and do not guarantee you credit of any kind. There are several "999 and declined" threads throughout this site.

Just to be clear, check my file.com reports do not include credit history information from Experian.

  • ...but also consider the T&Cs before doing so, specifically condition 10, which states their reports do not contain the same content as you'd get by going direct to one of the CRAs and paying £2 for your statutory report.

In short, don't waste your money on a checkmyfile report!

So I started a checkmyfile report & cancelled before they charged me and on my equifax account it says checkmyfile did a credit search against me. Is this going to show as if I've been trying to get credit?!

    Short answer, no.

Long answer, see section 12 of the T&Cs you agreed to.

As for 'why' it shows as an unrecorded enquiry, then see section 3 of the T&Cs (where they tell you they're acting for you as an agent).

    It shouldn't do.

There are two types of credit searches, ones that relate to applications for credit and ones that have been done primarily for verification of identity (by the likes of CRAs themselves and Insurers). The latter often being referred to as "soft" searches. Organisations that search your file cannot see the soft searches, they're only there as a record for you to see who's been poking their nose into your affairs.

I did read t&c's but as a credit novice the sight of a search being recorded and no further info on it I got a bit confused. I didn't realise there were two types of searches.
