Monday 26th August: What DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning everyone, hope your all well! Lovely sunny day here today and I've got a day off :)

My plan:
  • Check banking
  • Check surveys
  • Check Ebay accounts
  • Relist all moulds/charms on business Ebay account (ended last night)
  • Check Etsy
  • Washings on and hung outside to dry
  • Iron work clothes
  • Tidy up
  • Pack up any new orders
  • Post Ebay sales

  • Morning All!!

I've literally just got home after a manic 17 hour shift at work... Bank Holiday lived up to expectations - we had a CRAZY night!! On the plus side, there's some serious overtime coming next month from that!!

So, today's priority for me is simply:

    1. SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!! :p

Back in work at 7pm tonight for the last shift in a very long set! I suppose it's a very MSE way to spend the day as it will definitely be a NSD and as I didn't get chance to eat last night my lunchbox is still in the fridge at work for tonight!

OH has been a little angel and done all the cleaning, ironing, and even Adpoints - so nothing to worry about today! It's payday tomorrow for us, so hopefully will have something a bit more exciting to report then!!

    Lots of love xxx

Morning LPS, thanks for starting us!

Everyone arrived last night in good time and spirits. Today I am left with nephew, sister and sisters BFF. Nephew is going at lunch time ish and BFF I have for another week.

    This is the plan today:
    - Checked banks
    - Change standing order date, I thought I'd done this
    - Walk into town with the troops, minimal spends, decaff coffee, nice bread and maybe some ham for lunch.
    - Make cakes, by hand as my Kenwood has broken :(
    - Research cheapest disposable barbecues for next weekend
    - Research cheapest but decent stand mixer, one on Groupon has been reduced from £299 to £80!
    - Try to find kebab skewers in town, bbq proof ones and oven proof ones!
    - Call dad and ask him to fax sister's college docs and GCSE results paperwork to me at work tomorrow that she left in North Wales
    - 3 Loads of HC already and all on the line!

That's all, I don't think today will be very spendy, but I'm going to discuss with the girls about going to London on Thursday so we'll see!!!

    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

    Today's plan...
    Loads of laundry
    Vacuuming
Trip into town to exchange some shoes I bought for work which on reflection might slowly kill me!
    Defrost and clear out freezer
Maybe do some batch cooking if I get round to it

    Hello

Back again for another day of it...

I'm going to look out what I could sell - maybe aim for 5 things @ £15 - that'd be nice.

I need to buy a yoga book for £10 so will list something in return

Put my name down for another MS - hoping one comes off soon - not had any recently

Yoga coursework & class plan - hoping to get this finished! A girl can dream :rotfl:

Bit of promo for new class

Text pal re other class I'm taking over

    Look into dad's bday pressie

Checking out HM laundry powder recipes

That's my lot - putting a car out of my mind for at least a day since I don't need to leave the house except to take the dog a walk. :D

    Morning.

Today i need to do a tip run, go to tesco for more fruit pouches for kids whilst on offer and go to b&q for mouse traps as noticed quite a few droppings yesterday :( which I promptly cleaned and today there is some more. Sigh

Got 5 eBay packages to pack up too.

    Gotta go, baby crying

    Hi All :) Back again!

Spent the weekend with my older sister, and she let me:

-Wash clothes and dry on line (saving me using the washing machine)
    -Wash my work tea towels/cloths
    -Charge my laptop

    Just got home and have/will:

    -Check OLB
-Write meal plan for the week

Not huge stuff, but enough to save money! Have a wonderful BH Monday everyone, back to work tomorrow!

    Afternoon all

Not a Bank Holiday here :( so plodding on as usual.
    I hate that Monday feeling.

    The List:

:staradmin Walking to Sainsbury's to buy milk on Nectar Points. There's £5.50 to spend!

:staradmin Turned off electric alarm clock at wall when I got up.

    :staradmin Continue repairing torch.

:staradmin OH has tidied the big, kitchen cupboard of doom so I don't need to do it. Yay! I do however need to clean the oven. Will I use dynamite or semtex?

:staradmin Done my Job-seeking. Rant alert: Not looking forward to tomorrow. Have to see a Careers Advisor at demand of Jobcentre to "help guide me into my chosen career and give me direction". (It was that or I had to go on a four-day course to learn how to complete application forms and learn what to do at interviews.) I hate to sound negative and arrogant but it will be a waste of £3.50 petrol and two hours of my time. I know what career I want, I'm qualified for it, I've years of experience in the industry, I know the local labour market, I'm applying for posts by the gazillion and getting interviews and I was once an Employment Advisor. What can the Careers Service tell me I don't already know? I could be at home doing more applications instead! And then I have to go back to the same room on Wednesday to sign on.

I know how you feel, Ally - my OH was exactly the same last year when he was job hunting.

Can you claim back the money it costs to get to the job centre? I think my OH said something about that, and also any money you spend going for interviews?? I might be making this up completely though!

    Hi all,

Sorry I've been AWOL recently - I've well and truly fallen off the dfw wagon to the tune of a £600 credit card bill (0% interest though so it's not too bad), so I have to nip it in the bud and get back on that wagon !

    Today I have/will:
    • Meals from stores
    • Defo NSD
    • Looked into zopa peer to peer lending
    • Looked on funding circle at what's available
    • Need to rejig cv and upload it

    Love to you all
