What else can my PC do for me....???

I recently upgraded to Windows 8 which has made me fall back in love with my pc.

Whilst I use it for loads of things I would like your opinion if I can use it for more.............

I currently use my pc for the following....

1. Microsoft Money
2. MP3s
3. Photos
4. Internet banking
5. Scanned in and backed up all my paperwork to the cloud and (try to) run a paperless life
6. Shopping lists
7. Xmas / birthday lists
8. Google Calendar synced to my phone

Any more ideas that I can use my pc for....... ?

There is home automation. One of such methodology is x10 standard.

Then there is home security. Media centre for the entire house. 3d printing, cad/cam. Film editing. Film creation - like cartoon characters. Wall posters - Rasterbaitor or PosteRazor

Steaming media viewer like xbmc. Media down loader like utorrent - yes there are legitimate films, books and albums available.

A secure server/gateway from which you can contact the internet from your phone or another computer.

I'm sure there are more.

What hobbies do you have?

We use ours for planning off road routes on google maps/google earth, then exporting .kml files to my android phone for navigation, which simultaneously tracks us on another .kml file, so we can record and compare routes. You can do this cycling or 4x4ing. The 4x4ing also allows you to log the car OBDII readings, and tilt/speed/G etc, and then overlay this onto maps but also video footage, so you can make nice little videos of your outing with some data overlain on them. All with free software.

Editing videos taken with a go-pro?

Computer games? There are plenty of good ones out there.

Skype, certainly. Converts your computer into a communications hub.

You could learn to program so you can create your own applications. Depending on what phone you have, you may be able to create apps for that too.

You could use it for browsing the Internet and posting to online sites, such as MoneySaving Expert.
