Floor sanding noise

Hello all
Can anyone out there who's had it done tell me how much noise the sanding of floors (using professional top end gear) makes?
I'm on the ground floor of a block of flats and have discovered original wooden floors which I want to clean up - will be getting the pros in to do it, but would like to anticipate how much of a racket it's gonna make and how bothered the neighbours will be!
Thanks in adv.

Hi
Good quality sanding machinery will still make a lot of noise, it will just take half the time of using basic machinery or DIY.
Have a chat with the neighbors and let them know when the work will happen. It will be a day or two of sanding for an average downstairs.0 -
it will be VERY VERY loud....... but well worth it0

Definitely loud, not quite as loud as drilling walls but your neighbours are going to hear it. Unless its a big flat though if you're getting someone else in to do it then it will be pretty quick. Assuming they have at least two people so one can do the main sander and move on while the other does the edges then they probably could do the sanding part in a day.0

Much louder than any wall drilling I've heard or partaken in!
But worth it, and it isn't something that goes on for days on end. Providing you let the neighbours know in advance and apologise for any inconvenience I don't see that they can raise any objections. (and it will possibly get very dusty)0 -

I'd also say MUCH louder than drilling with a hammer drill0
