Put £25 a month in a separate high interest savings account, or a regular savers account. Some of them offer 8%! At the end of the year you'll have £300, enough to cover any emergencies.
Insurance like that is not always essential. Read one of the MSE guides in the main site.0 -
Hello paul2468
I'll move your thread to the 'In my home' board.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
Have a read of Martin's article 'Boiler/Central Heating Cover'.;)

We have this cover and have used it frequently. Our central heating/plumbing/drains are getting old and we rely on it more now.
Last week had a plumber under our cast iron bath mending a leak!
Second time this year we've had to use the service.
We get our money out of it but it's only worth it if you think you will use it.
Is it a new build house or new central heating? Might not be worth it then.
Norwich Union do this cover and there's also a MSE tip on the board as to comparing prices.

our boiler is over 10 yrs old. They haven't said they won't cover us yet.
I don't think boilers are covered for replacement ?????? Just for maintenance.0
